By Bill Johnson Associated Press An attorney general's opinion
has cleared up the question of what state function would be hit
hardest if voters repeal House Bill 1017, but just what all would
be affected still hasn't been determined.
Preliminary figures from the Oklahoma Department of Education
indicate, however, that the futures of more than 1,000 teachers
hired since the education reform and tax package became law could
be in jeopardy.
Jack White, director of state finance, had estimated earlier
that repeal of the school reform and funding bill at the polls Oct.
15 would knock a $250 million hole in the state's budget for the
current fiscal year.
He now has raised that to $280 million and ...
