Government employment runs ram-
pant in Oklahoma City and statewide,
but it shows more restraint in Tulsa.
Manufacturing jobs are on an even
keel in Tulsa, but have declined in the
capital city, the state and the nation.
Public utility employment took a dive
in Oklahoma City during the past five
years, compared with Tulsa, but that
could be because of restructuring at
utility companies based in Oklahoma
City.
These are just a few of the observa-
tions made by local economists asked by
The Journal Record to take a look at the
shape and direction of the job market.
