Tinker Credit Union recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of
its branch at Vance Air Force Base in Enid.
"When we first opened the Vance branch, it was our sixth
branch, and our first member was Wing Commander Col. (Charles H.)
Christmas," said Marie Bowling, acting president for the
46-year-old credit union.
The branch was opened on Jan. 29, 1967.
"All we had was a desk and a posting machine, which sat on a
crate in a spare room in one of the base buildings. The branch was
operated by one employee, Bobbie Riffel, who is now the Vance
branch manager."
That branch has had its own building since 1984 and now has
eight employees. A second branch in Enid also was opened in 1984.
