Article: Tree Bank Enjoys `Good Green Year;' Roots Cross State

By Darrell Morrow Feature Editor Today is Earth Day, and while it is acknowledged only once a year it has greater significance than a one-day celebration for the Greater Oklahoma City Tree Bank Foundation.

"Every day is Earth Day and every day is Arbor Day to us," said Mary Caffrey, executive director of the foundation.

The organization had distributed 2,926 trees this year as of last week, with the planting season winding down. That runs the total for the five-year history of the foundation to 27,176 trees worth an estimated value of $4.5 million, she said.

"It has been a good year, a good green year," she said.
