Maurice Woods had to file for reorganization of his personal finances under Chapter 11 in 1984, after he lost a bid for his firm, Waste Systems Inc., to burn Oklahoma City waste and generate electricity.

His patented incinerator, called a Cleanror, had been approved by the Veterans Administration, but he had lost $2 million in trying to get a working project off the ground. He worked with his wife in her firm, called Quick Snacks, until 1991, when his half brother Roy financed him in a new venture to clean the emissions from residential woodrning fireplaces.
