Article: Bastin Seeks to Strengthen Real Estate Commission

A bill slated for the Oklahoma legislative session that begins Monday has to do with changes in rules under the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.

House Bill 1287, introduced by Rep. Gary Bastin, D-Del City, would allow the commission to fine licensees who are not staying within the rules of the commission. It would also step up the charges to a felony from a misdemeanor against an unlicensed person conducting real estate activity that requires a license.

Rules regarding two other bills that have already been passed by the Legislature, one during the 1991 session and one during the 1992 session, are scheduled for a public hearing Feb. 10. The seven board members are scheduled to vote ...
