Article: Disaster Agency Flooded; Torrent Disrupts FEMA, Prince George's Social Services

A pipe that burst early yesterday in a Hyattsville office building- -spilling 200,000 gallons of water onto the seventh floor and drenching lower levels--flooded one of the key disaster relief processing centers for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and caused major damage in state and local government offices.

Estimates of the damage varied widely yesterday--from several hundred thousand dollars from the building manager to several million by insurance adjusters--and officials said it was unclear how much damage was done to three major computer systems in the building.
