Article: Governor to Meet with Airline Head for Flights to Los Angeles, New York

Gov. David Walters is scheduled to meet today with the chairman of American Airlines in Dallas, where he said he would pitch for direct flights from Oklahoma to Los Angeles and New York.

According to the governor's press office, the visit was prompted by a report prepared by Hap Pareti Associates Inc. of McLean, Va., that addresses the potential economic viability of daily direct flights from Oklahoma City and Tulsa to New York and Los Angeles.

The report was prepared for the Governor's Aviation Team, which consists of representatives of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Oklahoma City Airport Trust and Tulsa Airport Authority.
