Article: Funding House Bill 1017 Could Take $81 Million

School enrollment in Oklahoma has risen to an all-time high, and taken the cost of the education reforms in House Bill 1017 up with it, state Superintendent Sandy Garrett said Tuesday.

Garrett told a House education committee that the fifth year of House Bill 1017 would cost about $51 million more than expected. She expects to ask the Oklahoma Legislature for $81 million for House Bill 1017 for 1994-1995, rather than the $32 million projected for 1994-1995 in 1989.
