Article: Supreme Court Grants Grand Jury Request

The Oklahoma Supreme Court granted Attorney General Susan Loving's request to convene a new multicounty grand jury Thursday, but three justices disagreed with the scope of the investigation.

The order, signed by Chief Justice Ralph Hodges and four other justices, sets March 22 as the date for convening of the grand jury and empowers it to investigate crimes in all 77 counties.

It named retired District Judge Donald Powers to preside over the grand jury. Powers presided over the three previous multicounty grand juries, including the one that investigated the campaign of Gov. David Walters for 18 months.
