Article: Phillips, Formosa Settle Polypropylene Dispute

BARTLESVILLE _ A legal dispute between Phillips Petroleum Co. and Formosa Plastics Corp. Texas regarding U.S. polypropylene production has been settled out of court, it was announced Wednesday.

Monetary terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Phillips filed a complaint Jan. 19 against several Formosa Plastics companies claiming Formosa was infringing on its U.S. patent, said Rob Phillips, spokesperson for Phillips. The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

In the agreement, Phillips granted Formosa a license under Phillips' U.S. patent No. 4,736,851 to manufacture, use and sell polypropylene homopolymer, random copolymer and block ...
