Hundreds of FBI agents marched to the White House yesterday to
urge President Clinton to deny clemency to Leonard Peltier, a Native
American activist convicted of killing two FBI agents in 1975.
About 500 former and current FBI agents--mostly from offices in
the District and Baltimore--quietly marched, two by two, from 15th
Street NW and New York Avenue, around the Ellipse, to the White
House. There, they paused for a moment of silence for the two fallen
agents, Ron Williams and Jack Coler.
John Sennett, president of the FBI Agents Association, a
nongovernmental organization that helped plan the rally, carried a
petition signed by about 9,500 current and former law enforcement
