Article: Walters' Office Takes Special Session Poll

Members of Gov. David Walters' staff are polling legislators to get their ideas on holding a special session of the Oklahoma Legislature, possibly as early as next Wednesday.

Legislative secretaries reported being contacted Tuesday by gubernatorial aides. A spokesman for Walters confirmed a survey was in progress.

The day before, the governor said he was "pretty close" to calling an extra meeting of lawmakers on workers' compensation reform.

Among the dates tossed out for the special session was June 22 _ next Wednesday.
