TULSA _ Rockwell International has signed $450 million in
contracts to build wing structures for Boeing, adding up to 400
jobs in Tulsa and putting another notch in the belt of the
state's Quality Jobs Act, Rockwell announced Tuesday.
Rockwell will build leading-edge slats and outboard
trailing-edge flaps for the Boeing 737-700, which features a
longer wing.
Boeing says it has 109 orders for the new 737. Southwest
Airlines is the launch customer with a $2.2 billion order to buy
63 commercial jets.
The length of Rockwell's contracts will be determined by the
market, but they "will carry us well into the next century," said
