The ground floor of Boatmen's Plaza seemed the ideal place for
Ground Floor Coffee House Co. to locate its second restaurant.
The only problem was that New York Bagels Inc., operating the
building's only restaurant, held a lease option on available
space.
"We walked away disappointed," said Jeff Segell, "but then
Paul Sorrentino (partner in New York Bagels Inc.) called me and
asked `Would you consider doing it together?' "
Ground Floor Cafe opened last month as a joint venture of the
two companies.
"We realized that their business could complement our business
downtown," said Robert Geresi, also a partner in New York Bagels
