State legislators who serve on economic development committees
heard Thursday from economic development specialists, state
commerce department workers and business people who have had some
experience with the state Quality Jobs Act.
Quality Jobs is a tax rebate incentive to companies that
create at least $2.5 million in new payroll. Those companies can
get as much as 5 percent of payroll back if they qualify by
offering health insurance to workers.
Of those who spoke about the program, some, like the president
of the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, said the incentive program has
made the difference in attracting new business to the state.
