Third-seeded North Carolina overcame a 19-point first-half deficit
to defeat No. 2 seed Virginia, 83-70, today in the semifinals of the
Atlantic Coast Conference women's tournament at Independence Arena.
In Monday night's final, the Tar Heels (26-6) will play fourth-
seeded Clemson, which upset top-seeded Duke, 76-71.
North Carolina's Chanel Wright had 27 points, 20 in the second
half, but it was Nikki Teasley's 19 first-half points that gave the
13th-ranked Tar Heels a chance after intermission.
With Teasley, a Washington native, leading the way, the Tar Heels
outscored the Cavaliers 23-4 in the last six minutes of the half --
13 of the points came at the free throw line -- to tie the score ...
