PARIS (NYT) -- When it comes to marketing, the French often seem
proud to be associated with anything Disney, much though that may
disgust purists.
In the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, hawkers insist that
its towers and spires were what Disney had in mind as the setting for
Sleeping Beauty. Others say it was one of the Renaissance chateaux
in the Loire Valley.
So with the release of Disney's animated Hunchback of Notre Dame
last summer, it was probably inevitable that the Cathedral of Notre
Dame would land on the list of Disney attractions.
American Express and the French Tourist Office have teamed up with
