When you're talking to a prospective employer about a job, there
isn't anything as touchy as salary negotiation.
If you play it right, you could wind up with a big increase
compared to what you have been earning. But if you don't, you might
end up with a piddling salary offer and a small office that overlooks
the garbage dumpster.
The trick to salary negotiation is to know what a job pays and
what you're worth. And hold your cards until the end, when it's
clear the employer wants you and only you.
"You don't want to give a figure too low and undervalue yourself,"
said David Small, who runs the Career Planning and Placement Center
