Two Oklahoma City giants are working with researchers at the
University of Oklahoma to develop a marketable electric-powered Ford
Ranger pickup that may be built here.
"We can already build an electric vehicle," says Dr. John Fagan, a
professor at the University of Oklahoma and director of OU's Electric
Vehicle Research Institute. "The hard part is designing one that
can be manufactured efficiently and economically so that the consumer
can afford to buy one."
Research is sponsored primarily by Autocraft Industries Inc., OG&E
Electric Services and the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of
Science and Technology.
