While the idea of an electric vehicle may seem esoteric to some,
folks at OG&E Electric Services have used these type cars, vans and
trucks for several years.
The company also is working with Dr. John Fagan of the University
of Oklahoma to bring the electric car into the realm of commercial
reality.
Autocraft Industries Inc., publicly owned corporate parent of Fred
Jones Manufacturing and Autocraft Electronics, also is working with
Fagan to turn the Ford Ranger pickup into an electric-powered truck.
"What I like about these (electric) vehicles is the lack of
noise," says Paul Renfrow, OG&E spokesman. "When you turn on the
