Article: State tax burden could get lighter

Even though Oklahoma's current state and local tax burden is already moderate, lightening the load could promote further economic growth, according to Douglas Enevoldsen, deputy director of state finance.

Enevoldsen told a Wednesday luncheon audience of the Economic Roundtable that Oklahoma has a reputation for having a higher tax burden than it really has.

For example, a recently published report on Oklahoma's 1994 state and local tax burden ranked the Sooner State 20th in the nation for its state tax burden.
