Article: Keating vetoes car tag cost cuts

Saying that it would have hurt used car buyers by increasing their vehicle taxes, Gov. Frank Keating Wednesday vetoed the $22.3 million Democratic car tag bill.

The veto will most likely mean that the measure will go to a vote of the people.

"This was a difficult decision, but I believe the people of Oklahoma deserve car tag relief that doesn't help a segment of the population at the expense of raising taxes on those who are least able to afford it," said the governor.
