Some colleges and universities, including Harvard and Stanford,
are so eager for low-income students that they teamed up with a Palo
Alto-based organization, QuestBridge, to find qualified applicants
from low-income families who most likely wouldn't apply to
competitive private colleges on their own.
QuestBridge recruits students for its 15 highly selective
partners, visiting schools and cities across the country to teach
low-income superstars from schools that haven't sent a student to a
highly competitive college for years, if ever, about the
opportunities available to them.
Interested students apply to QuestBridge and the program weeds
out those it doesn't think will make the final cut. ...
