Article: Vow to lose weight tops New Year's resolutions

FREMONT -- Julie Pavlik is resolved to eat healthier this year. Breanna Davis wants to lose weight and Eric Hall is going to be nicer to Republicans.

But research shows that come July, the odds are that Pavlik won't say no to a package of Oreos, Davis won't be a size 2, and Hale won't pass up a chance to Bush bash.

Only about 46 percent of people maintain their New Year's resolutions after six months, according to a 2002 University of Scranton study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.

Perhaps that is why most people in Fremont on Sunday either said they had no resolution or took several moments to think one up.
