Richard Nixon's inner life and George Washington's outer form are
the subjects of a pair of eye-opening specials this week in advance
of Presidents Day.
The surprisingly poignant question at the heart of "Nixon: A
Presidency Revealed" is how such a guarded, self-protective man ever
found his way into politics.
Where presidents as different as Eisenhower, Clinton and both
Bushes have shared a gregarious nature and an obvious love of the
limelight, Nixon stands out as a "desperate introvert," as one
