Article: Lumpkin drops request for funds; But grant program sparks his call for ethics reform

County Board Supervisor Kenneth Lumpkin said last week that he will not pursue a county matching grant for his business.

And, while other supervisors are still asking if it was a conflict of interest for Lumpkin to even apply for the grant, it is Lumpkin who is calling for county ethics standards to be overhauled.

The issue was rehashed last week at a Finance Committee meeting, where Lumpkin said he was not asking to be reconsidered for the grant funds, but for the process to be reviewed. He said he is concerned about why the issue was even brought to the Finance Committee, calling it political retribution on the part of the county administration.
