With immunity talks between Monica S. Lewinsky and independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr stalemated, salacious details from the secret tapes of Lewinsky discussing an affair with President Clinton first become public, including the revelation -- unproven for eight months more -- that she had a soiled dress with Clinton's DNA on it. Newsweek magazine publishes excerpts from one of the tapes made by Linda R. Tripp. In one exchange, Lewinsky insists she and Clinton were never observed together: "Nobody saw him give me any of those things, and nobody saw anything happen between us."
