We have three questions on the issue of whether the Village of
Caledonia should secede from the Racine Unified School District and
start its own school system. The first two are for supporters of the
move, and the last is for Racine Unified officials.
Question 1: How high do you want Caledonia taxes to go?
Withdrawing from the district and starting a whole new school
system is going to cost a lot of money. If that's not a precise cost
estimate, that's because no one really knows right now how much it
would cost.
One Racine Unified School Board member told the Journal
Sentinel's Dani McClain that taxes would increase between 30% and
