The last Wisconsin land deal of building industry con-man Bob
Brownell - a 14-lot subdivision on which a lone house stands - goes
on the auction block April 9.
Black Oak Ridge, a Town of Waukesha development undertaken in the
summer before Brownell's October 2004 indictment in a $20 million
land and loan fraud, is being sold at a Waukesha County Sheriff's
auction to pay off a $2.23 million loan default.
Brownell, a 1995 newcomer to the state, did a fast climb to the
top at Waukesha-based Bielinski Brothers Builders Inc., where he
helped the firm amass 4,000 acres of land while secretly embezzling
funds for side deals. The former executive is now serving a 20-year
