Article: City help urged for Park East; project; Community group cites jobs, tax base

A community organization says the City of Milwaukee should provide financial assistance for a housing, hotel and retail development proposed for the Park East area.

The Good Jobs and Livable Neighborhoods Coalition said Thursday that city funds, to be repaid through the development's property taxes, are needed to help Chicago-based RSC & Associates build Park East Square. The coalition is funded by labor unions, churches and other groups, and it supports Park East developments that create family-supporting jobs.
