Article: Integra offers to buy Eschelon

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Integra Telecom says it will pay $566 million for Eschelon Telecom of Minnesota, creating a Western telecommunications company with projected revenues of $700 million and also one of Oregon's largest privately held companies.

Both companies provide phone and Internet services to business customers in Western states, including Utah.

The companies said Tuesday the purchase gives Eschelon Telecom Inc. customers access to Integra Telecom Inc.'s regional fiber- optic network and eliminates duplication in markets that both companies serve.
