ATHERTON -- Two coaches and three young children all in one family adds up to a bit of an overload.

Menlo-Atherton boys basketball coach Craig Carson has decided to step down from coaching. His wife, Menlo-Atherton girls soccer coach Jenna Carson, is due to give birth to the couple's third child in early July. J.D. is 5, and Brady is 2.

"Three are just too much," Craig Carson said. "There aren't enough hours in a day to get everything done. My coaching stipend doesn't cover the cost of day care. It's like I'm paying to coach."

Carson is coming off the best season of the five he has coached at Menlo-Atherton. The Bears tied for the Peninsula Athletic League South Division title with Menlo ...
