A little over a week before his death, Howard Ron-son, builder of
more than 30 skyscrapers in Paris and Manhattan, was entertaining
guests to Mipim, the property industry's annual jamboree in the
South of France, on his yacht in Cannes harbour. Ronson's decision
to play the host, despite being seriously ill with cancer, is
indicative of his character. Although he shunned publicity, he had a
workaholic's commitment to his business and a love of opulence.
