A Morningside Elementary school sixth-grader is one of three
students in North America to win the Igniting Creative Energy
Challenge, which includes a trip to Hawaii.
Emily Wang authored and illustrated a book that highlights and
promotes conservation. She was one of 2,200 students in the United
States and Canada to submit a project to the contest aimed to
motivate learning and fuel creative potential regarding energy
topics.
"Do you think Hawaii would be a good place to learn about the
environment," Lisa Romney, spokesman for Johnson Controls, a contest
sponsor, asked Wang after entering the classroom with balloons and
pineapples. "Because you are going to Hawaii."
