Members of Tribune's board sent questions to Southern California
billionaires Eli Broad and Ronald Burkle about their most recent
offer for the troubled media company, said a source familiar with
the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity because the
process is ongoing. Broad and Burkle upped their two-month-old bid
Thursday. Broad and Burkle answered within hours, the source said.
Tribune's board is set to meet this weekend to weigh bids from
Broad and Burkle and from Chicago real estate magnate Sam Zell as
well as a "self-help" refinancing deal assembled by Tribune, said
another source who also spoke on condition of anonymity for the same
