Still smarting from a loss to Providence in last year's Catholic
League boys volleyball finals, top-ranked Brother Rice stormed past
the visiting Celtics 25-15, 25-8 on Tuesday.
"The 'Catholic League Champions' on the jerseys gave us a little
more inspiration," said Brother Rice junior Kevin Padden, who
celebrated his 17th birthday with a team-high eight kills.
"We took care of what we always do. We don't like letting teams
hang around."
Sean Cody added five kills for the Crusaders (20-0, 6-0), who
also got four kills from Matt Gallik and 14 assists from Josh
Scaletta.
"Providence has a strong program, and this is a great rivalry,"
Brother Rice coach Paul Ickes said.
