Article: Roundabout work to begin; Beloit Road to close as construction begins on I-43, Moorland interchange

New Berlin - After years of planning, the first stage of a $21.8 million project to build roundabouts and new bridges at the I-43 and Moorland Road interchange will begin next week with the closing of a section of Beloit Road.

The 2 1/2 -year project will upgrade the bridges over Beloit and Moorland roads and add two roundabouts instead of signalized intersections on Moorland Road, on the east and west sides of the freeway.

DOT project manager Allen Gilbertson said the roundabouts - the first for an interstate in the Milwaukee area - will serve as a model for other roadway projects. The state will host a public information meeting at 4 p.m. today in the New Berlin City Hall council chambers ...
