As one of the first dominant closers in baseball, Goose Gossage
never had a problem waiting to get in.
His walk to Cooperstown may be a lot like his strolls to the
mound - a little late, but right on time.
The Colorado Springs resident and former Wasson High star
finished sixth (166 votes) in Tuesday's Hall of Fame voting, putting
him tops among first-year candidates, but four places behind new
entries Carlton Fisk and Tony Perez.
As usual, Gossage is in no hurry, even for the Hall. Returning
from a U.S.O. tour in Kosovo, where he met and signed autographs for
soldiers, Gossage didn't hear voting results until late Tuesday
