Air travel in North America and Europe likely won't be affected
in any major way by Y2K problems, say government and industry
experts.
That's especially true, experts say, for U.S. airlines, air
traffic controllers and airports. Officials are confident they have
overcome all computer problems associated with the switch to 2000.
The Colorado Springs Airport said in July that equipment owned
and operated by the city was Y2K compliant. "City employees began
work on this tedious project in 1995 in order to provide a safe and
Y2K-ready facility," said Gary Green, aviation director.
The Federal Aviation Administration has declared all the nation's
565 airports it regulates to be Y2K compliant. ...
