Article: New team, spot for pitcher/Rockies complete roster by sending pair to Colorado Springs

ATLANTA - Rick Croushore had the stunned and confused look of a man just assigned to a baseball version of the witness protection program Sunday afternoon.

The Colorado Rockies assigned Croushore to the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox. They also ordered for Croushore to become a starting pitcher, something he hasn't done since 1997.

Croushore, 29, will stay with the Rockies in Atlanta and work with pitching coach Marcel Lachemann through Wednesday, then join the Sky Sox in New Orleans, where the team opens the season Thursday. After getting chances in the St. Louis bullpen the past two seasons and pitching well this spring, Croushore said he needs that time.
