Allergies are nothing to sneeze at.
"For years, they've been regarded as an annoyance or a nuisance,"
says Dr. Gary Rachelefsky, a Los Angeles allergist and past president
of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
But allergies often lead to more serious problems, such as ear
infections, sinus infections, bronchitis and asthma.
"Allergies have a profound and debilitating impact on quality of
life and, in some cases, they kill people," Rachelefsky said at a
recent teleconference to kick off a national allergy awareness
campaign.
With tree pollen in the air and grass-pollen season on the
