It's warm and getting warmer. It's late spring and the fishing
forecast calls for downright hot conditions on lowlands reservoirs
across the state.
Certainly the stage is set, not unlike a large back yard all
bedecked for a Memorial Day barbecue to kick off summer.
Water conditions are good across most of eastern Colorado. The
extensive stocking programs of the mid-1990s have populated warm-
water reservoirs with saugeyes, walleyes and wipers, while other fish
species in large part have taken care of themselves.
Fish are moving into the shallows as lake water gradually warms,
and they're getting hungry and aggressive.
