LAKE GEORGE - It's hard to keep a good thing secret, and on a
Saturday morning in Elevenmile Canyon, the word is out:
The fishing is good, the setting even better. And if that's not
enough, the canyon offers rocks to climb, landscapes to paint, an
array of wildlife to view and lots of picnic tables, camping
facilities and assorted road pull-outs from which to enjoy all the
above.
"We've been getting quite a bit of traffic," an attendant at the
Canyon Enterprises tollbooth acknowledges, ringing up another $3
entry fee.
"The fishing? ... Well, the regulars say it's good; the beginners
say it's a little tough. As usual."
The newly graded road follows the old Colorado Midland Railway
right ...
