DENVER - The no-hitter that Jose Jimenez threw in 1998 as a
Double-A pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization 1998 didn't
say as much about him as the next morning.
His manager and several teammates woke up to repeated banging
sounds from the parking lot of the team's hotel in Shreveport, La.
Jimenez was throwing rocks at the garbage bin, looking just as
happy as he did the previous night.
That same joy and willingness to put aside the results to
concentrate on work is helping Jimenez struggle through inconsistency
as the Colorado Rockies' closer.
