Fall is barely under way, but already, many gardeners are
thinking about spring. Amid the falling leaves and withering annuals,
they'll be planting the bulbs that will produce the first bursts of
color in 2001.
If you want a rainbow of daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses and
tulips come spring, the time to plant them is now.
November is too late, says Horticulture Art Society president
Howard Matz, an 18-year master gardener who recently taught a bulb-
growing class for the local Colorado State University Cooperative
Extension Service.
