LAKE GEORGE - To make a good thing even better, wait until the
crowds begin to thin out. Or until the sun is off the water, anyway.
"Let's go up for the evening rise," Gary Almeida had proposed,
hanging up client waders at the Angler's Covey shop, where he works
part time as a guide. "Most people leave by the middle of the
afternoon, but that's a good time to just be getting there.
"On guide trips I'm out to get clients into fish and usually that
means nymphing. Fishing on my own, I want to fish dries and the late
afternoon and evening might be the best time to do that."
