The developer of the controversial Cathedral Pines subdivision in
northern El Paso County cleared another hurdle Thursday.
The County Commission voted unanimously to rezone the property to
accommodate 161 upscale homes immediately north of Black Forest
Regional Park. The commission also unanimously endorsed the
development's preliminary plan.
But the commission stopped short of sanctioning the extension of
Milam Road, which would be a two-lane road through the park's
northwest segment.
Instead, the board voted 3-2 to postpone a decision on allowing
the developer to build the road through the parkland, pending the
outcome of a court case.
