Sting's voice is thick and brooding at the opening of his new live
album. He seems to be mulling over lyrics that shifted meaning just a
few hours before he sang them: " ... Blood will flow when flesh and
steel are one."
The song "Fragile" was recorded on the night of Sept. 11, and even
though Sting was at his home in northern Italy, the reverberations
from New York City can be felt in the music. The album is a document
of grief.
"It was recorded then, but it's not what we intended," Sting said
during an online chat on Vizzavi.com on Halloween. "It was going to
be a joyous celebration of two years of work. A wonderful night under
the stars of Tuscany, and we were all going to be happy and ...
