Eateries won't let sea bass get away

Boycott to protect fish population hasn't caught on here

A boycott aimed at saving the trendy Chilean sea bass from extinction has hit the Midwest, including socially conscious Madison. But so far, Milwaukee-area restaurants and caterers don't appear to be biting.

"This is the first I've heard of the boycott," said Shawn Maher, manager of the Red Rock Cafe in Shorewood, among the first restaurants to introduce the mild, moist fish to Milwaukee-area diners 10 years ago. "We sell so much of it, I honestly don't think we'd take it off the menu," Maher said Thursday.
